Written by Yumi Tamura, "Legend of Basara" takes place in a future Japan, reduced to a barren desert by a catastrophe at the end of the 21st century. Sarasa is a girl whose twin brother, Tatara, is prophesied to be the "child of destiny" who will save Japan from its tyrant rulers. When Tatara is killed, Sarasa takes his place to fulfill the prophecy. When not in disguise, Sarasa falls in love with a mysterious man named Shuri who is really the Red King, her brother's murderer.
